Spinal Injuries

Low back pain is the most common symptom patients present with. Most common causes of LBP are injury or overuse of the tendons, ligaments and muscles of the area. Pain may also be due to a disc herniation which may also impinge on the nerves of the low back. If this does occur, the patient may have pain into the buttock region or down the leg, sometimes with numbness or tingling sensations. With older age LBP is sometimes seen due to degeneration of the discs and joints of the spine or compression fractures due to osteoporosis. Decreasing of the space where the spinal cord runs, central canal stenosis, can lead to low back pain and pain down both legs with compromise of bowel and bladder function.
