Two common causes of elbow pain are golfers elbow and tennis elbow. Golfers elbow is caused by inflammation of the inside part of the elbow and tennis elbow by the outside part. Both seem to stem from overuse injuries. X-rays are helpful to rule out fracture or dislocation of the elbow if it is suspected. Other common causes of elbow pain are bursitis, arthritis, and tendonitis. If numbness or tingling is involved your doctor may perform tests to rule out cubital tunnel syndrome, which is impingement of the nerve on the inside of your elbow.
